Definition of Air Transport
As a system , air transportation is made ​​up by the components of interrelated and interact with each other . These components together into a system to produce something . The components of the air transport system , is carrier or aircraft , terminals or airports, and air lines ( airways ) as a medium fly.

Air transport facilities and infrastructure
·         Air Transportation Facilities
Aircraft or enough we known as plane is capable of flying in the atmosphere or the air .
·         Air Transport Infrastructure
The airport is a facility where aircraft can take off and landing . The simplest Airport has a runway minimaly but large airports typically include various other facilities , both for operators and flight services for it users

·         Plane
·         Helicopter
·         Fighter aircraft
·         Light aircraft
·         Airship

Advantages and disadvantages of air transport
     Ø  advantages         :
·         Fast and efficient system
·         Suitable for vital goods , perishable and expensive
·         Can reach areas that are difficult to reach
·         Allow free movement anywhere.
 
     Ø  Disadvantages  :
       Very dependent on the weather and are easily distracted by particles suspended in the air. For example : volcanic ash from volcanic activity 
    Maintenance is too expensive

       Aircraft size can’t be landing in smaller airports.

       For areas that do not exist can not be served by its airport

       Loud noises and high pollution


 

The meaning of airport
Airport as a connector between the international community in the country with a mandatory managed professionally . Airport / airport includes an extensive collection of various activities with the various needs of different and often conflicting
Definitions and functions of the airport
1 . As controlling and regulating air freight traffic in this case is the plane
2 . As a modal interchange for passengers
3 . As a point up or down loading and unloading of passengers and goods / cargo
4 . For operations where various services such as :trade , public facilities , social facilities , transit facilities , promotion , etc.

Definition of helipad
Helipad is the field for helicopter landing. Because the character of helicopter can land and fly vertically, helipad isn’t need a huge area and could be everywhere. To be visible in the air, helipad must tagged by a circle or letter H in the middle or just only letter H.
